Great Is Thy Faithfulness

By Pr. James Mensah

9/14/2025Lamentations 3:22–23

The Fruit of the Spirit, as written in Galatians 5:22–23, is a beautiful picture of the life God desires for His children. It is not merely a list of virtues to try harder to achieve, but the natural outflow of the Holy Spirit living and working within us. When a believer abides in Christ, the Spirit cultivates qualities that reflect the very nature of Jesus. Love stands first, the foundation of all the others. It is not a shallow feeling but a selfless commitment to seek the good of others. Joy follows, a deep gladness rooted in God’s presence, not dependent on circumstances. Peace is the calm assurance that, no matter what storms arise, the Lord remains in control. Patience reminds us to endure trials and to show kindness even when life feels slow or people are difficult. Kindness and goodness express the heart of God in action—gentle words, generous deeds, and integrity in every situation. Faithfulness is steady trust in God and reliability in our commitments. Gentleness reflects humility and compassion, treating others with care rather than harshness. Self-control is the Spirit’s strength within us, enabling us to resist sin and live in discipline. Together, these nine qualities paint the portrait of a Spirit-filled life. Unlike the fleeting “works of the flesh,” the Fruit of the Spirit grows steadily and matures as we remain rooted in Christ through prayer, worship, and obedience. Just as a tree produces fruit when it is nourished, so we bear spiritual fruit when we are connected to the true Vine, Jesus Christ.
